Campanhã is where almost every long-distance train into Porto arrives, and it’s usually the first place people realise they’re stuck with their bags. Check-in isn’t for hours, the Douro is a 15-minute metro ride away, and nobody wants to see it dragging a suitcase.
You have three options at Campanhã: the self-service lockers inside the station, a storage app using a nearby shop, or a pickup service that meets you at the station and takes the bags off your hands. We checked all three in July 2026.

The lockers are the fastest if you’re coming straight off a train and coming back for your bags. If you’re not returning to Campanhã - flying out later, or moving on to a hotel across town - a pickup avoids the second trip entirely.

The lockers inside Campanhã station
Campanhã has self-service electronic lockers run by Portugal Luggage, a Portuguese operator that has run station lockers since 1989. At Campanhã you’ll find them in the túnel de acesso às linhas ferroviárias - the tunnel that leads to the platforms. The same company also runs the lockers at São Bento and at six stations in Lisbon.
Three sizes are available. In Porto and Lisbon they measure:
- Small - 340 x 433 x 798 mm
- Medium - 340 x 588 x 798 mm
- Large - 512 x 897 x 798 mm
Two practical notes. Opening hours follow the station’s, so the lockers aren’t available around the clock - if your train gets in very late or you need bags overnight, check before you rely on them. And prices aren’t published online; the current rate is displayed on the machine itself. For a locker problem, Portugal Luggage’s Porto technical line is (+351) 964 001 691.
Capacity is the other catch. The whole Portugal Luggage network across ten stations is 504 lockers, so Campanhã holds a fraction of that. In summer, and around midday when the Lisbon trains land, the large lockers go first.

Coming off a train, head for the “Largo da Estação” exit. Once outside you’ll see the parking lot, and your Keeper (Driver) will be waiting near the taxi rank in an orange LUGGit vest. You’ll get their name, vehicle and phone number about 30 minutes beforehand.

Storage apps near Campanhã
Bounce, Nannybag, Stasher and LuggageHero don’t operate their own sites - they partner with shops, cafes and hotels. Coverage near Campanhã is thinner than in the historic centre, since the area around the station is mostly residential and industrial.
Read the headline prices carefully. Bounce advertises Porto storage from €1.95/day, but the Porto locations we checked charge €3.50 to €4.95 per bag per day. LuggageHero’s €1/hour adds a one-time service fee per bag at checkout. And because the host is a business, its opening hours are your opening hours - a shop that shuts at 19:00 means your bags are gone until morning.
Campanhã or São Bento - which station will you actually be at?
It’s worth being sure, because the two stations are 5 minutes apart by metro but serve very different trains. Campanhã handles the intercity and high-speed services - Lisbon, Braga, Guimarães, Vigo and the Douro line. São Bento, the tiled one everyone photographs, mostly runs regional and suburban trains.

Getting to the airport from Campanhã
Porto Airport is on metro line E, which reaches the city centre in about 30 minutes for €2.30. From Campanhã you’ll change onto line E - allow around 45 minutes door to door, and more in rush hour.
