Your TAP flight lands in Lisbon at 7:20 AM. Hotel check-in is at 3 PM. That is nearly eight hours with two suitcases in a city built on hills and cobblestones.
Or the other way round: you check out at 11 AM, your flight to São Paulo leaves at 10 PM, and the plan for the day is now "find somewhere to put the bags".
TAP Air Portugal and LUGGit now solve this directly. With the new TAP Air Portugal luggage service, passengers can book luggage pickup, storage and delivery in Lisbon, Porto, Madrid, Barcelona and Athens, with an exclusive discount, straight from TAP's baggage page. Here is how TAP luggage storage and delivery works, what it costs, and how it compares to the lockers at each airport.
LUGGit is a door-to-door luggage service. Instead of walking your bags to a locker, a Keeper (Driver) in an orange vest comes to you, collects the bags, seals each one with a unique QR tag, stores them in a monitored facility, and delivers them wherever and whenever you choose.
As a TAP passenger, you can use it:
Bags are insured up to €1,200 each on the Flexible plan, tracked live in the app, and pickup times adjust automatically if your flight is delayed.
Book from TAP: the TAP baggage page has a dedicated LUGGit booking flow with an exclusive discount for TAP customers.

Pickup and delivery do not have to be in the same place. Airport to hotel, hotel to airport, apartment to cruise terminal, or station to station all work.
Prices start from €2/bag. The final price depends on the pickup and delivery locations, the number of bags, and how long they are stored. You see the exact amount before you pay, and TAP passengers get an exclusive discount when booking through TAP's baggage page.

Every one of these five airports has some form of left luggage, but the trade-offs are similar everywhere: you have to get to it, it is priced in blocks, and it only solves half the problem, because you have to come back for the bags.
Lisbon (LIS). 234 self-service lockers outside Terminal 1, departures floor, open 24/7, priced in 3-hour blocks from around €3.60. Terminal 2, used by low-cost carriers, has no lockers at all. If your bags need to end up at a hotel in Alfama, the lockers do not help.
Porto (OPO). 104 lockers on Floor -1, open 24 hours, also from around €3.60 per 3-hour block.
Madrid (MAD). Left luggage at T1, T2 and T4, but not around the clock (T1 and T4 open 5:00 to 23:00, T2 7:00 to 22:00). It costs €10 per item for up to 2 hours and €17 for 24 hours, which makes it one of the more expensive options in the network.
Barcelona (BCN). Storage available around T1 and T2, plus a dense network of city storage shops. Nothing inside the cruise terminal.
Athens (ATH). Care4Bag runs left luggage in the arrivals hall, open 24/7, from €7 for up to 6 hours and €11 to €17 for a full day, depending on bag size.
The practical difference: lockers store bags where you already are. LUGGit moves them to where you are going. If your day ends somewhere other than where it started, that is the whole point.
Prices above are indicative and change. Check the airport operator's page for the current rate before you travel.
Early arrival, late check-in. Landing at 7 AM with a 3 PM check-in is one of the most common frustrations in travel. Bags go to the hotel; your day starts immediately.
Late departure, early check-out. Check out at 11 AM, fly at 9 PM, and get an entire extra day in the city instead of an entire extra day in a terminal.
Long layovers in Lisbon or Porto. TAP's hubs put you 20 to 30 minutes from two of Europe's best city centres. A four-hour connection is enough for Belém and a pastel de nata if you are not carrying luggage. Our Lisbon layover guide has itineraries for 4, 8 and 12 hours.
TAP's Portugal Stopover. If you are breaking a long-haul trip with up to 10 days in Lisbon or Porto on the Portugal Stopover programme, luggage delivery between the airport, the hotel and the onward flight removes the friction from both ends.
Cruise to flight in Lisbon. Disembarking at 8 AM with an afternoon TAP flight is a classic dead-time problem. Bags leave the port; you do not.
Groups and families. Six people and twelve bags is not a taxi problem, it is a logistics problem, and it does not fit on the metro.
It depends on how long you stop. On a TAP stopover of more than 24 hours, your checked bags only travel as far as Lisbon or Porto, so you collect them there. With a connection of 6 to 24 hours, you can ask at check-in to collect them at the stopover; otherwise they go straight through to your final destination.
Once the bags are with you, LUGGit can take them from arrivals to your hotel, store them while you explore, and bring them back to the airport before your onward flight. The TAP FAQ has the rules for your ticket.

Do I need to be a TAP passenger to use LUGGit?
No. LUGGit is available to anyone in Lisbon, Porto, Barcelona, Madrid, Athens, Rhodes, Mykonos, Crete and Budapest. The exclusive discount is what is specific to TAP customers.
Does this replace checking my bag in with TAP?
No. This is a luggage collection, storage and delivery service for the time you are not on the plane. Your checked baggage allowance and airport check-in work exactly as usual.
How far in advance should I book?
Book as early as you can, especially in high season. Same-day bookings are often possible, but the time windows you want fill up.
What if my flight is delayed?
Flights are tracked and pickup times are adjusted automatically.
Are my bags insured?
Yes. Every booking includes base cover, and the Flexible plan insures each bag up to €1,200. Each bag is sealed with a unique QR security tag and stored in a monitored facility.
Can bags be collected at Terminal 2?
Yes. In Lisbon this matters, because T2 has no lockers. A Keeper can meet you at whichever terminal you land in.
Which cities does TAP luggage storage cover?
Lisbon, Porto, Madrid, Barcelona and Athens.
Do I have to collect my checked bags on a TAP stopover?
On a stopover of more than 24 hours, yes: your bags are only checked in as far as Lisbon or Porto. With 6 to 24 hours you can choose to collect them. LUGGit can then store them or deliver them to your hotel and back to the airport.
What if TAP lost or delayed my checked bag?
Report it to TAP first, at the baggage services desk in the arrivals hall or through TAP's baggage problems page. LUGGit handles the bags you have with you; it does not trace lost or delayed luggage.
